666d7e2efd package/mtd: install libubi.a and libmtd.a to staging
Currently, the mtd package only installs the mtd utilities into the
target directory. However, the mtd-utils also provide two
static libraries (libmtd.a and libubi.a) that can be used by other
packages or tools.

Therefore, this commit extends the mtd package by adding the
installation to the staging directory of those two libraries.

425a668dfd jamvm: bump to 2.0.0 (including mips big-endian support)
This commit bumps jamvm to version 2.0.0. From the release notes:

I'm pleased to announce a new release of JamVM. JamVM 2.0.0 is the
first release of JamVM with support for OpenJDK (in addition to GNU
Classpath). Although IcedTea already includes JamVM with OpenJDK
support, this has been based on periodic snapshots of the development
    tree.

JamVM 2.0.0 supports OpenJDK 6, 7 and 8 (the latest). With OpenJDK 7 and
8 this includes full support for JSR 292 (invokedynamic). JamVM 2.0.0
with OpenJDK 8 also includes full support for Lambda expressions (JSR
335), type annotations (JSR 308) and method parameter reflection.

In addition to OpenJDK support, JamVM 2.0.0 also includes many
bug-fixes, performance improvements and improved compatibility (from
    running the OpenJDK jtreg tests).

As this release now also supports MIPS big-endian targets, this commit
fixes bug #7010 (https://bugs.busybox.net/show_bug.cgi?id=7010)

126f258df5 package/cdrkit: fix namespace of variables
Not all cdrkit variables are prefixed with CDRKIT_, so they leak.

Most importantly, they look like they belong to another package's
namespace, cmake, as they start with CMAKE_ (but fortunately, they
have no impact on cmake, as they are not used by our infras.)

Fix that by removing the intermediate variables, and directly set
the CDRKIT_CONF_OPT variable.

c24f559435 gcc: add new fix for the ARC 2014.08 gcc version
This commit adds a new patch to the ARC 2014.08 gcc specific version,
that redefines PTRDIFF_TYPE from "long int" to "int".

The change of SIZE_TYPE from "long unsigned int" to "unsigned int"
http://git.buildroot.net/buildroot/commit/?id=0f236c1fef669192c8f5cc8ef26e93da91438dc2
introduced a regression due to the existing PTRDIFF_TYPE.

Now to fix regression the patch converts PTRDIFF_TYPE to simple "int".

The fix is taken from current development branch of GCC for ARC and
will be a part of the next release of ARC tools, so at that point
patch should be dropped.

directfb-fusion uses the madvise() system call which is not available

It seems it might be possible to simply remove the call to madvise()

03ecca90d3 swig: add swig2.0 -> swig symlink
The cmake detection script provided with cmake will first look for a
binary called swig2.0 then for a binary called swig.

host-swig only installs a binary called swig, but if the host
distribution has instaled a binary called swig2.0, it will be
preferred over our swig, which isn't great. This patch creates a
symlink swig2.0 -> swig to prevent this from happening.

547b3bb337 opencv: rework V4L/libv4l support
Starting with the 2.4.7 release, for V4L support, OpenCV does not
requires a libv4l dependency for its V4L support.

So, it now provides 2 distincts knobs for this: WITH_V4L and a new
one: WITH_LIBV4L.

This patch takes advantage of this new knob and libv4l support is
now automatically enabled only if the libv4l package is enabled.

In OpenCV, the logic behind this is:
- using libv4l if available,
- otherwise, use v4l2 or v4l API from the kernel if available.

[Thomas: remove gratuituous reformating, as suggested by Yann.]

5539e93cfc package/freerdp: bump version
There has been no new release recently, and the 1.0 branch is out-dated.

The 1.1 branch has not been release-tagged since the last beta tag,
but it still continues to receive bug fixes, and is relatively stable.

The next major release should be 1.2.0, but it is still in beta, looks
like it is focused on Android, and was only recently tagged.

So, we use the latest cset from the 1.1 branch until there is a new
release (either 1.2.0 or 1.1.0), at which point we can revisit which
version we'll use.

Drop our patch, since the problem has been fixed upstream (with a more

I re-did the patches: one patch per change, patch configure.in instead

hopefully make the patches acceptable for upstream, or at least make it

edab68c1f1 python, python3: add patch to prevent distutils from adjusting the shebang
The copy_scripts() method in distutils copies the scripts listed
in the setup file and adjusts the first line to refer to the
current Python interpreter. When cross-compiling, this means that
the adjusted shebang refers to the host Python interpreter.

As a consequence, we add a patch for python and python3 that
force copy_scripts() to preserve the shebang when
cross-compilation is detected.

d60489a6e5 arch: remove BR2_arm10t
The BR2_arm10t option is not correct as it references an ARM family,
while other options indicate a specific ARM core. The ARM cores in
ARM10 family are ARM1020E, ARM1022E and ARM1026EJ-S according to
Wikipedia. However, those are clearly very rare, and Wikipedia only
indicates two Conexant ADSL-related SoC as being part of this family
of ARM cores. Therefore, this commit removes this ARM family.

84d584ea0d gdb: add support for Python in target gdb
This commit adds a new option BR2_PACKAGE_GDB_PYTHON to enable Python
support in the target gdb. Since we can assume that the user will be
aware that Python is needed to get Python support in gdb, we chose to
use a "depends on" dependency instead of a "select" dependency.

The other weird thing is the need for a wrapper shell script to
replace gdb's provided python-config.py script. See the shell script
comment itself for all the details.

643baa1872 hostname: fix conflicting installs of /bin/hostname
Surprisingly long-standing issue with conflicting /bin/hostname
installs. Reported as early as November 2005 by Joseph Dupre.

All together at one point or another there are at least 4 possible
sources of /bin/hostname:

        busybox
        util-linux
        coreutils
        net-tools

Buildroot depends on the -F flag being available in the default
/etc/inittab. Out of the 4 listed projects only net-tools and buildroot
for sure support the -F flag. I'm a little unclear on util-linux as it
has been removed entirely (in favor of net-tools) for some time.

As of coreutils 6.9.90 (2007-12-01), coreutils does not install its
/bin/hostname by default. The following commit reenabled its build:

d6e58cb coreutils: fixed missing hostname (Sep 2010)

This was done to fix a build error in coreutils regarding help2man. A
later patch:

30c5105 coreutils: bump to version 8.21

disabled the help2man functionality entirely but left hostname being
installed.

On a very related note, net-tools now contains an obsolete check to add
util-linux as a dependency to force it to build first (so that net-tools
ends up with /bin/hostname).

This patch fixes both of these issues so that hostname always comes from
one of two places:

    busybox
    net-tools

6063a8fbcf toolchain: switch to a two stage gcc build
Currently, the internal toolchain backend does a three stage gcc
build, with the following sequence of builds:

 - build gcc-initial
 - configure libc, install headers and start files
 - build gcc-intermediate
 - build libc
 - build gcc-final

However, it turns out that this is not necessary, and only a two stage
gcc build is needed. At some point, it was believed that a three stage
gcc build was needed for NPTL based toolchains with old gcc versions,
but even a gcc 4.4 build with a NPTL toolchain works fine.

So, this commit switches the internal toolchain backend to use a two
stage gcc build: just gcc-initial and gcc-final. It does so by:

 * Removing the custom dependency of all C libraries build step to
host-gcc-intermediate. Now the C library packages simply have to
depend on host-gcc-initial as a normal dependency (which they
   already do), and that's it.

 * Build and install both gcc *and* libgcc in
host-gcc-initial. Previously, only gcc was built and installed in
host-gcc-initial. libgcc was only done in host-gcc-intermediate,
but now we need libgcc to build the C library.

 * Pass appropriate environment variables to get SSP (Stack Smashing
   Protection) to work properly:

    - Tell the compiler that the libc will provide the SSP support, by
passing gcc_cv_libc_provides_ssp=yes. In Buildroot, we have
chosen to use the SSP support from the C library instead of the
SSP support from the compiler (this is not changed by this patch
series, it was already the case).

    - Tell glibc to *not* build its own programs with SSP support. The
issue is that if glibc detects that the compiler supports
-fstack-protector, then glibc uses it to build a few things with
SSP. However, at this point, the support is not complete (we
only have host-gcc-initial, and the C library is not completely
built). So, we pass libc_cv_ssp=no to tell the C library to not
use SSP support itself. Note that this is not a big loss: only a
few parts of the C library were built with -fstack-protector,
      not the entire library.

 * A special change is needed for ARC, because its libgcc depends on
the C library, which breaks building libgcc in
host-gcc-initial. This looks like a bug in the ARC compiler, as it
does not obey the inhibit_libc variable which tells the compiler
build process to *not* enable things that depend on the C
library. So for now, in host-gcc-initial, we simply disable the
build of libgmon.a for ARC. It's going to be built as part of
host-gcc-final, so the final compiler will have gmon support.

The libelf is currently provided by 2 packages libelf and

8b33a9531c procps-ng: Fix installation and take precedence over busybox
Currently procps-ng binaries are installed under $(TARGET_DIR)/usr/usr
instead of $(TARGET_DIR)/usr, which would be the expected. This is
caused because the default value of the --exec-prefix configure option
is /usr, and Buildroot always adds --prefix=/usr to the configure
option. We fix this by setting --exec-prefix to an empty value.

At the same time we make sure the procps-ng binaries have precedence
over the busybox ones.

652ad4678a coreutils: get the uptime program to work
coreutils configure script needs to know whether /proc/uptime is
available, but this is not possible in a cross-compilation
context. This leads to an uptime program that fails to work on the
target, as it has been compiled without /proc/uptime reading support.

This commit fixes that by telling coreutils at configure time that
/proc/uptime will be available on the target (which seems to be a
reasonable assumption on Linux systems).

4c443f0247 libsvg-cairo: explicitly disable X support
Our libsvg-cairo package doesn't have any dependency on X, and the

116733c6c2 czmq: add patch to fix build issue with recent glibc
glibc 2.20 is now warning when _BSD_SOURCE is used (as it's replaced
by _DEFAULT_SOURCE), and czmq has the bad idea of forcing the usage of
-Werror, causing build issues with the recent NIOS II toolchain based
on glibc 2.20.

This commit adds a patch to czmq to fix that. The patch has been
submitted upstream.

7fc52f477d libiscsi: add patch to fix largefile related issues
This commit adds a patch to libiscsi, to fix largefile related issues
occuring in two situations:

 * glibc toolchains, due to the way _FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 is handled,
by declaring the *64() functions as aliases to the non-64*() ones.

 * uClibc toolchains without largefile support.

df2a60e5ca jq: add patch to fix y0, y1, j0 and j1 related build issue on uClibc
Our default uClibc configuration does not have DO_XSI_MATH=y, so it
lacks certain math functions. jq generates some wrappers for the libm
functions, even for functions that are not actually used by jq. By
simply removing those wrappers, we get jq to build on uClibc that have
DO_XSI_MATH disabled.
